Rode a breeze from Ireland to Scotland

Due to a pain in the ear, as noted earlier, we left a few days late for our honeymoon. To save much confusion with bookings and what not, we simply cancelled a few days off the top of our trip and that landed us in Dublin at about 8am Monday. Since we kept our flight into Edinburgh, that meant we had about 12 hours in Dublin before we had to return to the airport to catch our flight out. What a 12 hours it was! Here are some pics and captions from our adventures:

So Dublin was great. Eric (aka Mr. NY hence the sweater) had the opportunity to sample a local delicacy, a chicken sandwich with lettuce, red onion and butter! We arrived at our hostel in Edinburgh a little after 10pm that night, hopped onto our bunkbeds and slept like babies! We awoke energized and refreshed at 7am (local time), enjoyed the hostel breakfast of cereal and croissants and ventured out into the glorious city to explore and do the things tourists do best, take pictures! See below for a peek at some of our adventures...

Edinburgh Castle (so amazing!)

In addition to touring the Edinburgh Castle, which is perched upon an extinct volcano and where we saw the Scottish Crown Jewels and the Stone of Destiny, we went to the Holyroodhouse Palace. The Palace is the official Scottish residence of the Royal family, and is surprisingly open and available to the public. We were able to tour the apartments of Mary Queen of Scots and the processional, that winded through numerous grand rooms and halls (no pics allowed!) A favorite of Laura's was the old Abby at the Palace that was burnt down centuries ago by locals uprising against Catholicism. Check out our video:

The next leg of our trip we are set to visit Oban and the isle of Kerrera in northwest Scotland for a few days before we make our way to London. The trip as of yet has been unbelievably amazing and we are both in shock that only days have passed, and that months of adventures lie ahead of us! Sticking to our budget thus far has been easier than we hoped, and thanks to Laura's desire to excessively plan for all, it seems our single day packs are filled with everything that we need to cover our you-know-whats in all circumstances. Well, dinnertime is here and the Scottish haggis (local favorite dish) is calling our names, so off to the pub we go! Until next time =)
